Handmade Storage Solutions Designed for Modern Living
Commissioned for a private residence in Canterbury, this project showcases the intersection of handmade British craftsmanship and intelligent design. Following a recommendation from a local interior designer, Minus Fine Furniture was tasked with transforming a deep, awkward, wasted space into a fully accessible, ventilated airing cupboard.
The Craftsmanship: English Ash & Rubio Monocoat
This piece is hand-made using sustainably sourced English Ash. To achieve a rich, contemporary warmth while preserving the natural beauty of the wood grain, we finished the unit with Rubio Monocoat in ‘Cocoa.’ This plant-based, hard-wax oil provides a durable, matte finish that is perfect for the humid environment of an airing cupboard.
Engineering for Accessibility: 1.2m Full Extension
A standout feature of this build is the sheer scale of its accessibility. We utilized heavy-duty, full-extension drawer slides that allow the slatted Ash baskets to glide out a massive 1.2 metres. This brings the entire contents of the cupboard into the room, eliminating "dead zones" and making organization effortless.
